Most lawns in Kenneth City are small enough to cross in a few strides. Small doesn't mean easy, because every pass shows.

These yards sit on sand, take full afternoon sun, and get their rain in buckets from June through September.

St. Pete Lawncare mows, edges, trims and tends the beds for homeowners across Kenneth City and the rest of Pinellas County. One crew per property, a day you can count on, and a free estimate before work starts.

The frustration: a lawn you can finish in ten minutes, still eating your Saturday

A small yard fools you. The mowing takes no time at all. Then the details take the rest of the afternoon.

The grass already looks fine from the street.

What actually eats the weekend:

  • •Edging the drive
  • •Trimming the shrub line
  • •Weeding the bed edge
  • •Blowing off the walk
  • •Bagging the clippings

Ten minutes of mowing, two hours of everything else. That's the trade here.

Seven tenths of a square mile, and everything close to something

Kenneth City covers about 0.7 square miles and holds roughly 5,000 people, one of the smallest municipalities in Pinellas County. It incorporated in 1957 on old pasture and has been a town of single-family homes ever since. There is almost no commercial frontage. There's no beach and no bay.

What that means for your yard:

  • •Streets just wide enough for two cars
  • •Lots measured in steps, not acres
  • •The curb a few feet from the door
  • •Property lines close on both sides
  • •One driveway, often one car

When everything sits this close together, small mistakes read as big ones.

The town has its own rule about your edge line

Kenneth City doesn't leave yard standards to taste. The town's property and yard maintenance guide spells out what the Code asks of homeowners, and the specifics are tight.

Grass has to be mowed so it stands ten inches or less in overall height, and homeowners must edge or remove growth from driveways, sidewalks, curb lines and gutters. Ten inches is a legal ceiling, not a healthy lawn. UF/IFAS warns that mowing too high and too rarely builds up thatch in St. Augustinegrass.

The same guide says clippings and yard waste go in the trash bin, not the street, the right-of-way or the storm system.

The town's floor is a mowed, edged, swept property. Our version of the job starts there.

A notice from code enforcement almost always starts with one of those two lines.

Your watering day depends on which pipe serves your block

Kenneth City has no water utility of its own. The town's utilities list names two water providers for residents, Pinellas County Utilities and St. Pete Utilities. Which one serves your house comes down to your block, so two homes a few streets apart can be on different schedules.

For Pinellas County Utilities customers, the county's shortage order allows lawn watering once per week. The hours are narrow, either 12:01 to 4 a.m. or 8 to 11:59 p.m.. South of SR 580, even house numbers water on Tuesday and odd numbers on Thursday. Kenneth City sits south of that line.

If your water comes from St. Pete Utilities instead, don't copy your neighbor's day. The county tells residents who are not its customers to confirm their schedule with their own supplier.

Two houses, two days. Know which one is yours.

What a visit looks like when the lot is tight

Three lines decide whether a small yard reads as sharp or sloppy. Each is its own job inside the same visit.

The mow line

St. Augustinegrass covers most of these lots. UF/IFAS says standard cultivars should be mowed at 3.5 to 4 inches, and cutting below that stresses the turf and invites pests. Our weekly mowing holds that height, changes direction between visits, and keeps the blade sharp.

The edge

This is the line the town regulates, and the one the neighbors see. Our edging cuts the drive, the walk and the curb with a blade instead of a trimmer, so the line stays straight and the concrete stops growing a green beard.

The beds

Bed lines here sit inches from the mow line. We pull the weeds, keep the mulch off the turf, and re-cut the trench so the two lines stay separate.

Mulch is the usual culprit. When straw or pine bark creeps past the trench, the turf gets squeezed into a strip too narrow to cut cleanly.

A truck pulling a trailer is a tight fit on a street this narrow. We work in one direction, keep the wheels off your neighbor's grass, and take the clippings with us.

Pro tip: Ruts are how bare spots start, and the town's guide names parked cars on the grass as the cause. If your only parking is the lawn, we'll plan the mow deck around it.

We also cut across the line in Pinellas Park and Largo.

The reward: an edge the whole block can see

A small yard that's dialed in looks bigger than it is. The walk reads wider. The drive reads clean. The strip between the houses stops being a place weeds live.

What it feels like when it's handled:

  • •A set day and a set crew
  • •Bed lines that hold their shape
  • •Clippings gone, not in the gutter
  • •Nothing for the neighbor to side-eye

You stop noticing your lawn. That's the goal.
